Hah. Actually ended up being a good game, as expected.

Welcome! Yeah, don't be too nervous. I'm sure the Magic are cognizant of last year's game and don't want to make the same mistake twice.

Hi Eddy. Magic fan in Chicago from OPP here. My nerves are already shot from thinking about last year's opening game.

@Fdaddy66

Agreed. Great thoughts. Brown and Van Gundy are definitely two of the best coaches in the NBA. How teams adjust within a playoff series is always a fascinating narrative.

This will be a good first series for the Magic to get ready for the intensity level that they will see later on in the playoffs. I am eager to see what kind of adjustments the coaching staffs will make throughout the series, as these two teams feature two of the premier basketball minds in Larry Brown and SVG.

Pythagorean record is a metric to estimate how many games a basketball team should have won based on how many points they scored and allowed. It's, more or less, calculated from a team's point differential. The purpose is to find how fortunate or lucky a team has been based on their actual win-loss record. So in this instance, the Magic performed like a 61-win team even though they won 59 games in actuality. It's based off a formula created by Bill James in baseball. Hope I explained what it is clearly enough for you.

E! What is a pythagorean record? This is something new to me.

@Adolfo

That's by design, more or less. Carter is relied upon to score late in the shot clock when the Magic need a bucket.

Is it only me or did anyone else noted that in the last season games the ball went to VC on clock ending plays? Magic on 5...!!!

@Ferric24

Agreed, 100%. Excellent comment. I do have the Magic in 5 but I agree that each game is going to be competitive and hard fought.

I think the series is going to be excellent, a real treat for fans that enjoy good coaching and sound defense. I also think it's going to be the second most competitive series in the east outside of the Miami Boston series. I pick the Magic to win in 6 hard fought games.
