This was one of the most talented big man to ever handle the ball in this game really take a look how good he looks playing basketball ever thing was pretty thats what make the game fun to watch as a fan . Like Michael everything looked good.If he would have never got hurt and Shaq would have never Left he would be a Hall Of Famer but getting first his feeling hurt ,when you have a dream in your mind like Penny had, them two would have won lots of Championship and then getting hurt just did it i really missed his game he should be a Hall Of Famer just look at his moves no one can do them all foot work

Being a disappointed Magic fan is how it goes man! You're not a true Magic fan if you aren't disappointed every year!!!!! 21 years straight now I've been let down at the end of the year but that's how you live with a 'loved one'. Sure, they can't be perfect all the time but they sure as hell make your life fun and exciting. I love the Magic and I love our history. . .there are plenty of teams who haven't won titles, like Phoenix, Denver. . .and. . .Phoenix so you can still love the past and enjoy the future!

Plus, if you stick around during the bad times (like the TMAC years. . .cough cough) then the moderate success (a conference title here, a division title there, etc) really pays off. I'd love to win a title. . .but I can still love my team if they don't.

If Penny and Shaq could've co-existed? All-NBA PG and All-NBA Center, that's a tough combo to beat... Unless you're Michael and Scottie.

To be fair, Horace Grant and Nick Anderson both got hurt in that sweep in '96. Not to say we would've won, but it would've been a lot closer otherwise. Also Shaq's game maturing would've also helped put us over the top.

Thanks for posting the Anfernee "Penny" Hardaway highlights video. I had forgotten how good Hardaway was in his prime, which included his rookie season. I still wonder if the Orlando Magic would have won multiple championships if Shaquille O'Neal had remained in Orlando and not bolted to the Lakers in 1996.

Chill out, bro. There's no reason to be so rude to people who just want to have some fun. No harm in what they're doing.

Ooooohhh ok. I'll be quiet becuz some random person told me to view comment on a sorry excuse for an article. You're so bossy!(sarcasm) I'm sick of reminiscing on old memories after every season the Magic come up short. AND the that team with penny didn't win jack s**t! I'm an pissed off fan who sinks dollar after dollar into this team since i was 8yrs old. From saving up allowance for games and summer basketball camps and this is all I get in return? You remind me of the fan who told me to sit down becuz I apparently was cheering too much during the past yrs lakers/magic game in march. Not every orlando fan is happy right now. Esp. since the orlando mgic reporters cant find anything to report so they put out this highlight reel that can be found on youtube and penny hardaway is almost 40 livin in Miami and not giving a d* about this organization. I'm sorry but i wana here about trading/signing one of these free agents to help dwight. So excuse me if my patience is low. OR you could mind your own business and make your comment and carry on. DUH!

Ill never forget that game against New York (clips #1 and #2). It was the first ever regular season game shown live here in the UK. I think it was partly because Doug Collins' screaming "Are you serious?!" :)

@hulKK

Can it, please.

There were some amazing plays in there. That 180 fast break assist, the saving the ball from out of bounds to a streaking teammate, the dunks... Man, that brought back some memories.

I miss those days...Anyone here remember that last interview with coach Thompson when Penny was with the Miami Heat? Coach was telling him he's done and Penny kept saying he's not done yet. That's gotta be hard. I wonder where he is now and what's keeping him busy? I'd still like to meet him in person.

Thanks for posting this. Brings back old memories and feelings!

I was so depressed when I moved from Tampa to Phoenix and couldn't get all my Magic games anymore back in 1997 (this was before League Pass) but I was very pleased, in a way, that Penny came to Phoenix so I could at least watch him play all the time (not happy he left Orlando but that's the way it is). . .he actually had a fantastic first year in Phoenix before the injuries set in so he was good in two cities before time and age got to him. . .

Somewhat related comment: Penny made a putback layup at the buzzer to TIE a game and go into OT during his waning days in Phoenix in a regular season game. The Suns were woeful at the time and Penny was a shell of himself so it was both surprising and exciting for Suns fans and nostalgic Magic fans like me. Anyways, veteran commentator Al McCoy was SO surprised by Penny's excellent play that he screamed 'PENNY'S DONE IT! SUNS WIN! SUNS WIN! SUNS WIN! The problem: Penny only tied it and the TV announcer had to remind Al on air, 'uh, Al, he tied it. . .we're going to OT'. Poor Al and poor Penny. . .he needed a game winner at that point. . .

Fun to watch. Is that #1 dunk over Ewing? Poor Patrick.
