Via Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports:

Free-agent forward Matt Barnes has signed a two-year, $3.6 million contract with the Los Angeles Lakers, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

The Lakers announced Thursday night Barnes had officially signed the contract. League sources said the deal will pay him $1.7 million next season and give him a player option for $1.9 million in 2011-12.

The Cleveland Cavaliers had guaranteed $7 million over two years with a team option for a third season, but Barnes wanted more guaranteed money to sign with a non-championship contender. Cleveland refused to improve its offer and ultimately was willing to let Barnes go to a lower bidder.

Wrong. Richardson was just as good of a defender as Barnes was last year. The reason why Richardson is more valuable to the Magic is because of his ability to shoot three-pointers at a much higher rate than Barnes. The Celtics, like other teams, exploited Barnes' shooting inconsistency and cheated off of him a lot. That's why Van Gundy had to counter by playing Redick at shooting guard and Carter at small forward. Now with Richardson in the fold, the Magic have four great three-point shooters in the lineup.

The Magic set an nba record for 3's in a season, we dont need anymore shooters. Richardson is slow and can't defend the way barnes did. Barnes was our toughest player last season and a good defender. Lets hope Q comes into this season in shape.

No kidding.

Richardson is better than Barnes, actually. Especially on offense, where Richardson is a perfect fit with the Magic given his ability to shoot threes at a much higher clip than Barnes.

Barnes > Richardson

We will miss his toughness.

I'm actually fine with this. This is going to be super entertaining. Kobe, Odom, Artest, AND Barnes? I don't watch reality TV, but I would watch a reality TV show starring those four.

Good luck, Barnes.
