Los Angeles Clippers 101 Final
Recap | Box Score
81 Orlando Magic

Arron Afflalo
5-12 FG | 2-2 FT | 3 REB | 4 AST | 12 PTS | -32

The Magic got off to an atrocious start, as they scored just three points in the first seven minutes of the game. Afflalo was a large part of that, as he couldn’t get his shot to fall and committed an uncharacteristic turnover in the early going. The Clippers kept Afflalo from getting decent looks from deep and kept him off the free throw line, which limited his effectiveness.

Nikola Vucevic
1-7 FG | 0-2 FT | 8 REB | 0 AST | 2 PTS | -36

Vucevic got absolutely destroyed in the matchup against DeAndre Jordan. Even without Chris Paul, the Clippers were able to get the Orlando defense moving side-to-side, especially by putting Vucevic in pick-and-rolls, which opened up looks for Los Angeles on the perimeter and at the rim. It was a pretty rough outing for Orlando’s young center, who sustained a concussion after taking a hard fall in the third quarter.

Victor Oladipo
8-15 FG | 3-4 3P | 8 REB | 5 AST | 22 PTS | +11

Oladipo suffers from the same phenomenon as Harkless. He arguably had a better game than Harkless, with his decent contributions on the glass and in passing the ball. But even more than Harkless, Oladipo’s time on the court came with the game already well in hand for the Clippers. Against the weaker Los Angeles bench, his box score looks slightly less impressive.

Maurice Harkless
7-13 FG | 6-6 FT | 2 STL | 6 REB | 22 PTS | +12

Harkless had a fairly decent game. Considering the circumstances of the Clippers blowout, his numbers look even better. Though he was efficient as a scorer, tied for the Magic lead with 22 points, the fact that his performance came in such a lopsided loss docks his grade slightly. Fair or not, had Harkless’ teammates played better, his own play would have seemed all the more meaningful.

Los Angeles Clippers

This was the kind of game Los Angeles was looking for in order to bounce back from the trouncing delivered by the San Antonio Spurs in the Clippers’ first contest without CP3. Darren Collison seemed up to task against the Magic. Orlando made a run when Los Angeles went to the deeper parts of its bench, but the outcome was never really in doubt.
