We’re about to start doing a new recurring feature here at MBN, something a little more free-flowing than we sometimes do, and something we want you to contribute to. Every Friday, I’ll be doing a weekly roundup type deal (name TBD), and as part of it, I want y’all to email me questions or concerns about the Magic, the league in general, or really just anything.
Funny story you want to share? Send it. Soul-searching questions I’m unqualified to answer but will any way? Send ‘em. This column will be part hoops analysis and part WHATEVER I WANT TO TALK ABOUT (read: liquor), so you’ve got some latitude. One hitch: I won’t run profanity, but if you have a story clean enough where all I need is to redact a few NSFW words, fire away.
Send all of your brilliant, asinine or humorous missives to us at mbnhoops[at]gmail[dot]com.
I’ll be starting this Friday, and I’m counting on you.

Today’s episode of TrueHoop TV covered the topic of worst deals in the NBA this year. The Orlando Magic‘s acquisition of Gilbert Arenas gets mentioned.

Magic Basketball will occasionally give away free tickets to upcoming Orlando Magic home games with StubHub serving as the provider. How do you enter for a chance to win Magic tickets?
Easy.
Answer a trivia question.
The rules are simple:
- If you’re able to attend the game, you’re more than welcome to submit your answer in the comments section.
- Please do not answer more than once or add irrelevant commentary to your submission.
- Two tickets will be given away, which means you can bring a second person.
- Readers will be given 24 hours to submit their answers before a winner is announced. The winner will be determined by random drawing and contacted by e-mail (please make sure to submit a valid e-mail address).
Everyone has until 12:00 PM EDT tomorrow to post a response. That’s 24 hours from now.
Which team will win in tomorrow’s contest between the Orlando Magic and New York Knicks?
Enjoy!
Goodbye to the Big Three. Hello to the Fearsome Foursome.
Magic Basketball is done adding writers to the stable, let that be known, but not before opening its arms to another writer that will team up with Nate Drexler and Danny Nowell to provide more content about the NBA and Orlando Magic.
Matt Scribbins recently graduated cum laude from Iowa State University in May 2010 with an emphasis in mathematics and social sciences. Oh, and Matt was a member of the Cyclones’ football team between 2005 and 2007. Right now, Matt is currently assisting Football Outsiders’ Game Charting Project while at the same time contributing at Hoopdata. Matt’s role to MBN will be similar to mine, in the sense that he’ll bringing a more analytical voice to the table. Numbers are Matt’s friend and his articles won’t be devoid of them. His contributions are eagerly anticipated.
I’d like to welcome Matt to Magic Basketball.
Say hello to Magic Basketball’s version of the Big Three™.
MBN has been in existence for nearly a year and since the NBA is quickly entering a “superteam” era, I figured I’d throw my hat in the ring and create a team of writers that will be bringing their talents to this site on a regular basis.
Nate Drexler is a senior at Covenant College, a small liberal arts school located in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Nate is a history major, finishing up a long educational journey highlighted by intramural basketball and sports writing. Nate’s joy of watching basketball stemmed from watching Larry Hughes at St. Louis University, where his father was a season ticket holder during that era. And yes, Nate is familiar with this notoriously funny website.
Danny Nowell is a senior at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he plies his trade as a creative writing student. Danny is working on his Honors thesis in fiction, a collection of short stories, with the hopes of publishing and pursuing a Master in Fine Arts. When he isn’t too busy combining his interests as a writer and zeal for basketball to produce good writing revolving around the sport, Danny directs an improv comedy team on campus.
Danny and Nate bring a unique set of gifts to the table, and I hope that their rich prose combined with my analytical approach will create a steady stream of quality written content that you, the readers, will enjoy.
Their roles will be as contributing writers, in which they’ll take an expansive look at not only the Orlando Magic but the NBA as a whole.
So without further ado, I’d like to welcome Danny and Nate to Magic Basketball.
Will the Orlando Magic be making any more trades?
We’ll find out in a few hours.
